Join us for our next drop in zine day on Sunday 25th October between 11:00 - 16:00!
Take a seat, assemble your zine via Shrimp Zine App. Then leave the rest to us, with a choice of different finishes and binding options, we’ll print and assemble your zine that same day!!

What’s on the bill…
- full test of shutter speeds (Including Auto mode)
- full test of light meter accuracy (Please make sure you have a fresh battery, we will have some on hand but can’t guarantee we’ll have the correct one)
- check general operation including film advancing, confirm condition of seals etc.
- checking optics/operation of one lens fitted to the camera (e.g. not multiple lenses, so choose wisely)
There are a few cameras that are tricky to test so sadly we have to rule out any APS or half frame cameras. No large format lenses. Pentax 6x7 is sadly a no go due to necessary tools that are unavailable on this occasion due to their size. Obscure formats like 6x17 can have light meters tested but shutter speeds may not be possible (depending on their type of shutter).
When placing your booking please note down the camera model and lens so we know what we’re expecting. Ideally turn up just before your booked slot. Alternatively, you’re welcome to drop the camera off in the morning and we’ll have it looked at during the dedicated time (you will be contacted once the camera is ready to collect, please collect the camera by the end of the day).

Solstice Solargraph Workshop
Join us for the evening on the 18th June, for a drop-in Solargraphy workshop with Bristols very own Justin Quinnell, who will be showing you how to make your own solar camera and giving a talk on the history of medium.
No need to sign up.

Zine + Coffee
Join us again, on the 31st May, for our monthly zine making moot!
This time we are offering a free coffee to enjoy while you design your zine with the excellent @shrimpzineclub from bean ☕️ to book 📖
We will also be launching our zine library, opt in and we will print a second copy which will be on display at the Clifton shop for folks to peruse and inspire! 📚
'Old Stone Crosses Photographs by Ruth Proctor Hirst 1961 - 1977
Excited to announce our upcoming exhibition; ‘Old Stone Crosses: photographs by Ruth Proctor Hirst 1961-1977’.
One of the most absorbing things about photography is its ability to allow people to leave their experiences behind. For a lot of people this may be photographs of their loved ones, family holidays or moments to cherish.
However Ruth Proctor Hirst left behind a wealth of photographs presenting her interests. A published historian and archivist she was also a church crawler, stone hunter, British folklore attendee and took particular interest in old stone crosses. This interest resulted in one of her published works ‘Old Stone Crosses of West Gloucestershire’.
After being entrusted with her photographs, we have digitised the collection and curated a selection of our favourites, from the meeting of the Ovates, Druids and Bards, Padstow’s Obby ‘Orse and St Pirans celebrations to sites in historic interest up and down the south west.
Zine Drop-In Day #2
We’re doing it again!
We’d like to invite everyone down to our Clifton space in Bristol on the 26th April for our second Zine Drop-In day.
This time we’re going to try something different. Still powered by the amazing web app ‘Shrimp Zine’ we’ll be offering 16 pages + cover in a wire bound format. A really nice way of getting a lay-flat piece of work.
If you have any suggestions or questions ahead of time, please get in contact via email or give us a ring at either store.

'Tabula Rasa' Exhibition & Clifton Opening
The opening of our brand new Clifton branch was cemented with an exhibition from our ‘Tabula Rasa’ open call.
Consisting of 29 photographers we invite everyone to come and join in the festivities, look at some great work, and celebrate the new Photographique space.
In conjunction with Mercy, just down the road they will be offering smash burgers and cocktails along with a pop store of the new Camera Obscura Photographique T-Shirt!
